Trying to help this guy, on my own.

Hello, I'm a senior who loves animals and has been rescuing mainly dogs for many years. I once rescued and investigated animal cruelty cases for several rescue organizations but now after retirement, I've not been as active. I don't have the energy nor the finances to do as much but I do try to help when I feel a burden on my heart to do so.
I have named him Christopher, after Christopher Reeves Superman actor. We hope it brings him Superman strength to overcome the obstacles and live a good life. Christopher was at a local gas station store for several days if not more when my neighborhood began posting about him. Because I already have 3 dogs (all rescues) I tried my best to hope someone would step up and help him and it didn't need to be me. Several more days went by and still no one responded.
This weighed heavy on my heart so I went and looked at him. He was very sad and when I opened the car door and asked him if he wanted to come home with me, he got right up and went to the door and looked at me. I said it was okay and he got in. Turns out this fellow loves to ride and stick his face outside the window. He walks on a leash very gently and is house broken.
I got him home, bathed, and fed him. He had one of the worst flea infestations. He has some scars and a couple of sores and has lost hair on his back side and stomach.
I began calling around to rescue organizations in my area and one after the other said they were not taking in any new cases. Finding no help and being concerned about Christophers' health and possibly exposing my own dogs, I took him to my vet.
He has a number of health issues that need to be addressed. I took care of what I could stretching my finances as far as I could.
Christopher isn't an old dog, only about 3 years old, he has a skin problem that could be serious and needs a biopsy which is very expensive. He is HW positive and the staging of the HW appears to be bad, and will need that treatment when he is stronger. He has had his vaccines and been neutered but will need medication for the next several weeks to see if we can get him ready for the HW treatment. I believe Superman will be okay if he can get what he needs.
The stray animals need our help. We each could do a little something to make these animals' lives better. I hope you agree and can help.
All Funds donated will be used for his medical care, medicines, and tests. I provide him with a loving home and food until I can get him well and then I hope adopted.
I thank you for reading this and deeply thank you for your donation and prayers.
Pets are not disposable objects and should be cared for their complete lifetime. Please please share.
