Trying to get me and my support worker to Melbourne & back.
Donation protected
Hey folks, Ronni here. I am a Sydney based nonbinary person with disabilities.
I am currently on the Disability Support Pension, which isn't much and doesn't leave room for saving.
And I currently have some support funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
But due to changes in relation to how this funding can be used I am no longer able to afford to be able to go to Melbourne in October for a community event.
I have previously attended it the last 2 years. And not only enjoyed seeing friends, going to galleries, connecting with my community at a specific event but also new experiences I've had with being away from home.
Having a break from the everyday monotony and stress of being a person with disabilities and chronic health issues is vitally important for my health and wellbeing.
Being and feeling stuck at home is so isolating and detrimental to my mental health. Having this event to look forward to gives me something positive to focus on. Connecting with more of my community and spending time outside of my bubble and usual routine make the rest of my time that little bit more bearable.
I am very appreciative if you've even read this far and any help would be willingly accepted.
Just so you know what I am hoping to get help with more specifically:
The cost of an accessible van hire and fuel.
The cost of accommodation for both me and a support worker.
The cost of parking and other incidentals.
The cost of foods, tickets for the event for me and my support worker.
Anyways,
Thanks so much.
