Hi, my name is Jacob Tjapkes, and I never thought I’d be here again asking for help. But life has brought us to a place where we need to lean on our Christian family.

This will be my second surgery related to a Workmen’s Comp injury. The first operation, unfortunately, was not only the wrong procedure, but it was also done improperly. What should have been a fix has now turned into a serious, full foot reconstruction. This means an even longer road ahead one I didn’t expect to walk (or rather, not walk).

The recovery is intense:

• 4 months non-weight-bearing (meaning no walking or standing on the foot at all)

• 12+ months for full healing

• Constant doctor visits, therapy, and follow-up care

Even though I’m doing my best to prepare, and Megan is actively looking for work, the reality is that the first month of this recovery will be the hardest. I plan to continue working remotely during my healing process, but we need help bridging the gap.

We are asking for $2,000 to help cover:

• Gas and wear/tear on our vehicle for frequent appointments

• Basic living expenses during my immobility

• Two crucial recovery items:

• Orthopedic Wedge Pillow Set

• Overbed Rolling Desk with Power Outlets to help me continue working from bed
