Trust22 currently own and manage 7 defibrillators in Thorne and Moorends, with another waiting to be installed.
The financial outlay for a defibrillator does not end at installation. Defibrillators must be maintained to continue saving lives. Every time one is used we must replace the pads at a cost of around £35. Due to the amount our defibs are used, the batteries last around 3.5 years, and cost around £200 each. We need to maintain the first aid kits, and would like to install another defibrillator in DN8 for a residential area that is currently lacking provision. We also need to maintain a float in case of any malfunctions with our cabinets which are heated to protect the defibs in winter.
With 7 batteries to buy in the next year, plus the purchase and installation of a new defibrillator and cabinet, we're looking at a cost of around £3500.
