What is this film about
Truly Mine is a coming-of-age drama following Leila, an 18 year old girl who is on the brink of adulthood. As the pressure of her family's expectations grows, Leila has to choose between a life laid out for her or freedom, risking everything she loves for a life that's truly hers
Why This Story Matters
Truly Mine is a story about the pressure many young people face when stepping into adulthood and dealing with the fear of disappointing the ones close to you and the strength it takes to choose a path you love, not one that’s practical. This film is for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by the expectations of doing what people tell them is right, and learning that it’s okay to follow your heart.
Why I'm Making This Film
As a young filmmaker, this is a story that I can relate to, based off conversations I’ve had in my own life and people around me. Truly Mine is my version of exploring themes of identity, family, and what it feels like growing up when the path ahead is unclear.
