As many of you know Truett was born 3 months early to Dusty and Lindsey Vascocu. This fundraiser is to help Truett's parents with the expense of Truett's medical bills.
Truett’s story (from his mother): Truett Wade is truly a gift from God. He is the product of God’s faithfulness after almost 10 years of Mom and Dad’s prayers. Truett was born at 28 weeks gestation weighing only 1lb 11oz and measuring 12 1/2 inches long. At just two weeks old he underwent his first surgery to repair a perforation in his lower intestines. He was also given an iliostemy bag to allow his intestines to heal. During his 98 days in NICU Truett underwent a second surgery to repair a prolapse and a third to close his ostemy bag. On May 1st the big day came and Truett got to go home with his Mom, Dad and Big Brother, Logan. However only two weeks home Truett started showing some signs of increased Bilirubin. After weeks of Drs apts, scans and blood work it was finally determined that Truett’s gallbladder was compacted with gall stones and would need to be removed. Just 38 days after coming home Truett was admitted for his 4th surgery on June 7th. Within two days after surgery Truett’s incision began draining large amounts of fluid. Over the next 10 days Truett underwent 3 more surgeries to determine the cause and attempt repair of the fluid drainage. During the last surgery the team of surgeons believed to identify the cause as one or more accessory ducts, known as a Luschka duct. This duct was attached from the liver to the gallbladder and was severed during the removal causing bile to leak into abdomen. Drains have been put into place to collect the drainage and hopefully allow the ducts to close. In the mean time Drs are working to improve and maintain fluids and nutrition to help Truett gain strength for the recovery process. Truett has endured so much over the last two weeks. He is fighting hard to do everything he can to recover. But it requires a lot from a tiny 5lb little one and is going to take time. Truett has a long road ahead of him but he has proven time and time again he’s fighting as hard as he can to overcome.
