Hi all. My name is Graham Harsant. For the past ten years I have been writing feature stories and a regular column, ‘Life with Kermie’ for Big Rigs Australian National Transport Newspaper.

Over its 28 years, Big Rigs has been regarded as the formative publication for Truckies all over this country. Now, sadly, Big Rigs is to cease publication with the last issue out on June 26.

My time with Big Rigs has been wonderful and has brought me into contact with folk from all facets of the industry - the drivers, the manufacturers, the people who keep the history of trucking alive through groups such as ATHS and the HCVC.

After some soul searching and a strong desire to stay involved with the Australian Heavy Transport industry and the fine men and women (some of whom are pictured below),  who keep Australia moving, I am launching an on-line website/blog, entitled Truckin with Kermie.com

truckinwithkermie.com will endeavour to continue the great tradition of Big Rigs. It will also be available on FaceBook. 






The site will be launched on June 26, 2020 – with all the material I can gather in the short time available. The aim is to present Truck Driver’s individual stories and cover the truck shows which abounded prior to Covid 19, and will return.

I want to keep Truckies abreast of the latest news from industry bodies, OEM’s and cover areas such as Health, Legal, etcetera.

I wish to retain as much of the flavour and style of Big Rigs as possible.

Most of all, I’m hoping to give some of the other Big Rigs contributors a medium to share their fine work to the industry. Truckin with Kermie.com launches on Friday, June 26.



I am seeking to raise $5,000 to enable the building and ongoing maintenance of the website and to allow it to grow as quickly as possible. I would love to be in the position of being able to offer contributors some small recompense for their stories.

Whilst not originally from a trucking background, the past 15 years involved with the industry has given me massive appreciation and respect for the men and women who drive it. I frankly just cannot imagine walking away from it.
