Truck Driver who drove around country saving dogs, loses everything and becomes homeless and hospitalized and separated from her dogs.
Jan 30th at 1:30 in the morning 28 degrees
outside Betty is thrown out of her home by her daughter who is addicted to drugs, trespassed and all of her belongings thrown in a dumpster.
With only a small overnight bag, her 4 dogs and a pickup truck ,She started Door Dashing during the day and sleeping in her truck at night so she cou
ld take care of her dogs. By mid February approx 2 weeks later, she woke up in a lot of pain, unable to walk, she lay in the back of her pickup truck for two days struggling to care for herself and her dogs. She was so afraid to go to the hospital because she had no one to care for her dogs , by Wednesday morning the propane had run out on her heater and all her water had frozen and it was snowing. Her health had declined to a flat out life/death emergency Her colon perforated. She made her way to the emergency ,she was admitted and that was her worst nightmare Her DOGS were outside in a freezing truck covering with snow, A nurse in the ER contacted Animal Control, the dogs were extracted from the vehicle and taken to animal shelter where they would be held for six days. Betty was discharged after she was stabilized and told she would need surgery. she drove straight to the shelter where her dogs were taken and reunited with her babies. Betty laid in a motel room her health declining as she spent the next 3 days writing posts on Facebook asking for help for fostering her dogs while she gets surgery and recuperates ,A lady reached out to Betty to foster CoLee her queensland heeler but the weather was severe and the roads were impassable due to a snow storm, she would have to wait to go back to the ER until her dog was safe with the foster finally about 5 days later she was able make the 200+ mile trip to reach CoLee.
A friend has agreed to foster her tiny chi Cricket, and the manager at the animal shelter agreed to foster Gracie. Betty has returned to the hospital and is having surgery Monday, when she is released from the hospital she will be without her dogs and has nowhere to go.
