Troy Pace is a kind and loving 14 year old. He has recently been diagnosed with Myeloid Leukemia Cancer.
This, of course, comes as such a huge shock to all of his friends and family. He has always been such an active an energetic boy. He was mountain biking on Wednesday, 6/17/20, on Thursday he was really sore, on Friday he could hardly walk, and by Saturday he had lost all mobility and feeling from the waist down.
He was taken to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland OR. They explained he had a tumor that had grown from the outside of the anterior part of his spine and into the spinal column, compressing the spinal cord, causing the paralysis. He underwent surgery (laminectomy) to remove the tumor from the interior part of the spine to stabilize the spinal cord. To complete the surgery they had to permanently remove the posterior portion of the T2, T3, T4, T5, and T6 vertebra. After the surgery another MRI showed that the spinal cord had been permanently damaged, On June 23rd the lab results came back showing he has cancer.
Troy’s father and I have remained at his side rotating every 24 hours throughout his stay. It will be a very long road ahead with chemo and extensive rehabilitation.
All contributions are greatly appreciated and will help to alleviate any financial burdens (medical expenses, transportation, food, lost income, housing adjustments) that may incur during this devastating time.
There is no donation too small. If you are unable to donate, please continue to share his story.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous outpouring of love and support from many of his friends and our community. So extremely grateful for all the thoughts, prayers, and compassion everyone has shown so far.
Thank you!!
