Cavalier Brother In Need
We are appealing for some spare change and lots of PRAYERS to help out a brother and fellow PMAyer Col Antero "Troy" S. Narcise who has been diagnosed with  Myelodysplastic Syndrome (or Bone marrow Failure). He is undergoing several treatments at St Lukes Medical Center since the AFP Medical Center at V. Luna could not handle his complex medical problems. He receives blood transfusion to replace red blood cells, white blood cells and  platelets. His family has been racking-up with hospital bills so he can receive medications that can boost his immune system (steroids-one side effect is weight gain) and several meds that stimulates blood cells to mature, rather than remain immature and to reduce the risk of AML (acute myelogenous leukemia) which can be fatal.  Also, he takes growth factors (GF) medications, which are artificial versions of substances found naturally in our bone marrow. Generally, his immune system is well-compromised without these medications. He could just be taken out easily even with a simple flu virus. But we know Troy, as a Marine would not just easily give up with this battle.

The most important part for his treatment is the Bone marrow (stem cell) transplant, in which finding the right donor is difficult and usually cost between 5-10 million in Philippine money.  BMT is a gold standard procedure where defective blood cells are damaged using chemotherapy drugs and then the abnormal bone marrow stem cells are replaced with healthy, donated cells.

A Good Marine Indeed
Troy Narcise is a highly decorated officer of a US Allied Foreign Armed Forces (Philippine Marines) who fought Al Queda affiliated and similar terrorist in the Philippines. Col Narcise has a successful record of accomplishments in security and logistics operations with the focus in “winning the peace” through a people oriented approach. He led a company and platoons of Marines in the conduct of internal security operations in Southern Philippines that paved the way in the neutralization of some members of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaff. He also commanded the Field Artillery Battalion of the Philippine Marine Corps that successfully provided combat support to the different line units of the Corps.  Moreover, he worked with the US counterparts for war fighting development and cooperation especially during Bilateral Exercise like “Balikatan”. He is still hoping that he can continue  his 24 years of service in keeping peace and prosperity for the  Filipino people. Troy could not complete his mission unless he would succesfully conquer his illness. With your little help, we can help this Marine to be able to perform  his duties in protecting the Philippines.

Col Narcise is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1993. He is married to Didi Garingan with only one son.
