Troy's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On Wednesday, November 20, Troy “Bear” Marks was involved in a severe accident around 9pm. He was rushed to the University of Kentucky’s Hospital with life threatening injuries. The impact of the crash crushed the right side of his body, resulting in many broken bones, some of which were recovered from the site of the accident. His liver was also badly damaged. We are so blessed and happy that he survived.

Troy has had two surgeries since the night of the accident. So far, doctors have begun repairs on his right arm and fingers, and he will require more surgery to begin repairs on his right leg. He is scheduled to have another surgery on Sunday, November 24. In this surgery they hope to get control of his bleeding liver, and they will also need to remove some of his intestines.

The doctors have told our family to prepare ourselves for a long road to recovery. Troy will require more surgeries and a prolonged hospital stay and this is just the beginning. After this, he will need physical therapy, and constant monitoring of his liver functions. They feel optimistic that he will be able to walk again.

We never imagined anything like this would happen to us. Troy does not have insurance. We could use as much help as possible to help with all of the medical and rehabilitative costs we will incur. Also, please take into consideration as you donate that Troy and his sister take care of their mother who is recovering from breast cancer. He will be unable to work and his sister will be missing a lot of work to help with Troy’s rehabilitation.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
