Hello family and friends! This year is going to be a special year for our “Troy boy”. He is our pride and joy and he makes us proud every day. We hope to get back to sports, Karate, fishing, ATV riding, Knee boarding, wake surfing, and everything else we love to do! This will be his second birthday without family and friends present. But that is ok! Troy has become comfortable with distant learning and has adapted very well to our new environment. For those who don’t know, Troy has Autism and is living his best life. We have learned to embrace this challenge and have decided to do everything we can to help him navigate this puzzle of life. This year, we have made a decision to get Troy a service dog. Service dog training is VERY expensive. So for Troy’s birthday (MARCH 15) instead of boxed gifts, we are asking for donations. Our goal is $2400. This will cover most of the cost for the main stages of training including: obedience, task training, and public access. It is out of the ordinary for us to ask for any monetary gift from anyone, so we humbly ask for your donation so we can deliver Troy the therapy he needs from his new companion, Scout.

 

Scout was selected after consultation from our highly recommended dog trainer, Carla. After speaking to Carla, we discussed dog breeds that would work best for the type of work Troy will need from his dog. The dog needed to be hypoallergenic, and needed to be large enough to provide deep pressure therapy. After some back and forth we selected a “Goldendoodle” for their intelligence and temperament. We then searched for a reputable breeder who allowed us to temperament test each puppy to ensure we are selecting the best candidate. After careful consideration and checking multiple breeders, we selected SCOUT! Troy named him after watching the Disney’s Bears documentary on Disney Plus. We are investing a lot into this dog and hope you can find it in your heart to lend us a hand as we prepare to give Troy a lifetime companion that will help him navigate this puzzle of life!
