Troy Larsen... the man, the myth, the legend...

Troy Larsen has been a great pal of mine for over 20 years. He is a hardworking and dedicated artist, designer, avid cyclist, bike delivery expert... Let's face it, the man rides his money's worth!

Troy recently found out that he has a quarter-sized and strategically-positioned tumor that is interfering with his optic nerves. At first, the medical team suggested a surgery option that would be minimally invasive. But on further examination, they decided it required a craniectomy (partial removal of the skull) to approach it from a better direction. The tumor is partially wrapped around the optic nerves and the simpler surgery could not guarantee safe removal nor how his vision could ultimately be affected upon recovery.

Troy is a Veteran of the Army Reserves and spent time in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War back in the 1990s. He moved to Chicago after finishing a degree in Fine Arts and has worked in a variety of positions over the years, ultimately leading to the freelance career he is now pursuing. Unfortunately, this diagnosis has occurred just as he's been launching his new business, so the timing is less than ideal.

Troy's post-surgery estimated recovery period is estimated to be 1-2 months. That means 1-2 months off the bike, so no regular paycheck coming in! The main objective for this fundraiser is to help Troy with living expenses (in Chicago!)
