Request: $100 donation per student
We are raising money to benefit Troy High School Cyber, a 501(c)3 non-profit, that is an after-school cybersecurity program for students in grades 6-12 in Fullerton CA and the surrounding areas.
Our ONLY fundraiser for the 2019-2020 school year is THIS GoFundMe. Our expenses include:
CyberPatriot Team registration fees ($15,000)
Stipends for our super awesome cyber coaches and mentors ($10,000)
Networking equipment (5 racks of routers, switches, and cabling) ($35,000)
National Cyber League registration fees ($7,000)
We have serious skills:
LARGEST PROGRAM IN THE USA. Troy Cyber had 65 teams last year with over 400 students competing and will approach 500 this year. Okay, we are a bit nuts, but we love what we do!
MOST SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM IN THE USA. “The sheer amount of placements that Troy High School has earned the past two years has put them literally in a league of their own. Never before in the history of CyberPatriot has a single team achieved such a dominating performance over other teams. What makes this even more powerful is that it has lasted multiple years.” ICS, May 18, 2019
CONTINUING TO INNOVATE
Elementary School cybersecurity summer camp in July, 2019 for 35 1st-5th grade students
Only high school to host US-UK cybersecurity summer camp in August, 2019 for 20 US and UK teenagers
Had over 300 students attend Troy cybersecurity high school and middle school summer camps in July, 2019.
BEST EXPERIENCES:
My best experience so far has been successfully disassembling and reassembling the PC, because it showed me that I could apply what I learned in class to real life. I also enjoyed the experience for what it was because I could work with technology - Daniel, 12th grade
I think for me, teaching cyber camp was really fun. It was something new and it was enjoyable - Shirley, 11th grade
My best experience was when we were in the last half hour of the competition and we had a roadblock for over an hour. We started getting stressed, but rather than getting frustrated we worked harder together and finished three [competition] images - Matt, 11th grade
My best experience from Troy Cyber was last year when I was working on dismantling a chromebook and I told Mr. Stubblefield that it is sometimes nice to have tech friends. He responded by saying that I am also a tech friend, and that is one moment I will never forget. Generally I do not see myself as tech-savvy, especially amongst the students at Troy High School, but I have realized that I am starting to understand technology through Troy Cyber - Alyssa, 11th grade
My best experience from Troy Cyber was a competition round, where my Linux team member restarted the image at least 3 times. The stress regarding submitting the image on time was extremely high, and the image was submitted a few seconds before the due time - Rachel, 11th grade
WHY I LIKE TROY CYBER
Troy Cyber is always a place where I felt welcomed. Results and merit come from dedication and time, something many of the other clubs/teams … don’t have. It was a place where people came together to get something done and it was a place where I can combine my passions into something greater than myself in teaching the students - David, 12th grade
I like all the skills I have learned and the friends I have made. The skills in Windows security and Cisco networking are very applicable to technology today, and all the friendships made have improved my ability to work with a team - Evan, 11th grade
It requires you to really think and work with others as a team. I think that it is very cool that I get to have experience in cyber defense before going into college. I like that it is not only giving you experience, but it also allows you to compete with others - Terrie, 10th grade
Why take Cyber classes
I chose to take a cyber defense class because I want to learn more about securing computers and protecting ourselves online. I am also interested in cybersecurity as a possible job opportunity so I wanted to learn what they do and how they do it. It helps me understand why and how I should secure computers - Shirley, 11th grade
I chose to take a cyber defense class this year because I find cyber defense interesting, and I wanted to get my A+ certification this malicious attacks. As technology is dominating the way we live, it is of vital importance to know how to defend your computer from hackers in order to prevent private information from being stolen - Rachel, 11th grade
To our Cyber Defense Team supporters,
We are Troy's Cyber Defense Team! Our program has grown a lot over the past few years. We’ve placed highly at our competitions and continue to challenge ourselves to improve. We’ve found something we really enjoy and want to keep getting better at. The training we go through during the year doesn’t only help us during competitions but also prepares us for professional industry certifications.
This year, we are hoping that you can support us by donating at least $100 for each team member. Donations can be done through this site. If you're able to donate more, please do so.
We’ve found something that we really enjoy and it wouldn’t be possible without your support! Thank you in advance for continuing to support our cyber endeavors!
Thanks,
Troy Cyber Defense Team members
