Hi,
I am writing on behalf of Will (Nathan) Mullinax and his beloved dog, Troy, affectionately known as “Troy Boy.” Troy wasn’t just a pet; he was family, a loyal companion, and a deeply loved member of Will’s life.
On the night of March 10, 2026, Troy was stolen along with Will’s recently purchased vehicle. Will searched frantically for him, and soon the entire community was aware and hoping for Troy’s safe return.
Tragically, Troy had been dumped about seven miles from where he was taken. While trying to make his way back to his dad, Troy was struck by a car.
On Friday the 13th, Troy was finally spotted. CHP officers responded and transported him to the county animal shelter, where he was quickly picked up and rushed to the emergency veterinary hospital in Medford.
Despite everything he had endured over those painful days, Troy continued to show his loving spirit. He suffered a broken jaw, a torn lip, a broken leg, and multiple lacerations. Even through the pain and transfers between clinics, Troy remained gentle and brave, still wagging his tail and greeting the veterinary staff with his big, happy smile.
The medical care needed to treat Troy’s injuries would have exceeded $20,000, and due to the severity of his condition and the time that had passed, recovery would have been extremely difficult and very painful.
On March 13, 2026, with Will holding his paw, Troy was peacefully laid to rest. The veterinary team made sure he was comfortable, and Troy passed surrounded by care and love.
The funds raised through this fundraiser will help cover Troy’s veterinary expenses and cremation and assist Will in recovering from the financial loss during this incredibly difficult time. Most importantly, it will allow him the space to grieve the loss of a dog he loved dearly.
Thank you all for your support, compassion, and patience. We are deeply grateful for this community.
