Welcome to Operation Tropics for The Buzards!
Those of you who know Adam and Allison Buzard will probably know that they have been going through a very difficult year dealing with Adam's diagnosis and treatment of an aggressive form of cancer. He has had dozens of tumors removed from his body in the last few months, which has meant rigorous surgeries and taxing recoveries. Allison is trying to juggle many different hats as she cares for Adam and works full time, and Adam's body has been through the wringer. They have both been extremely strong, hopeful, honest and inspiring throughout this difficult journey.
Adam and Allison thought that all the surgeries were completed, but found out last week that Adam has to have one remaining surgery to remove a tumor in his lung. But, his body needs to recover from the surgery he just had before they can even think about stepping into new surgery territoy. This news was shocking and shaking.
BUT.
We can do something to help. And this is where you come in.
We are sending them to the tropics! We are sending them to somewhere with a beach, sand, and beautiful sunshine that is restorative to the soul. Somewhere that has those drinks with umbrellas in them! A place and time where they can just REST and relax and not have to worry about doctors, IV's, or anything else medical before Adam gears up for yet another (and hopefully FINAL) surgery.
Some important notes:
-This trip is being paid for by all of us and coordinated by Smart Flyer travel agent Laura Crafton, who has planned trips for Adam and Allison before (which they loved). Please note that your donations will not be going towards paying the travel planner (she is free!), but will cover the Buzard's airfare, hotel accomodations, transfers, and an overall all-inclusive package for the resort that they will be visiting. This includes the best possible rates, perks and upgrades that we can possibly get.
-Collectively, our goal is to make it so that Adam and Allison literally just have to pack their bags and hop on a plane. No other worries! Everything else will be taken care of for them. They do not know the monetary details or even that we are having people donate towards this cause. I want to kindly ask that we do not share these details with them, to go along with the theme of no worries! All they know is that all expenses are being paid for and that they can enjoy themselves and relax in the Caribbean, and that they have approved a timeline for us to go by as far as when this trip will work.
-We are shooting for all donations to be in by September 1st, 2015. Adam and Allison would love to go on a Fall Break trip! We realize this is short notice. But this is an adventure, and I believe we can do it!!
It goes without saying, but please don't feel required or pressured to donate! We are just trying to do something that will give them something to look forward to during this daunting time, and anything you can give is appreciated, but not at all required!
