T-Rod's Beat-the-Brain-Tumor Fund
Donation protected
Our beautiful colleague, Tamara Rodriguez, is facing a formidable challenge. We know T-Rod will be victorious in this battle, but she urgently needs, and richly deserves, our assistance.
In mid December, Tamara was at work when she suddenly experienced faintness, high blood pressure, and a sharp pain in her right arm. After a trip to the ER, she was transported to a Round Rock hospital, where she was diagnosed with a meningioma—a tumor on the membrane surrounding her brain.
This diagnosis means that Tamara will require innumerable tests and procedures and, ultimately, brain surgery. Of course, all of this comes with incredible financial demands in addition to the many emotional and physical challenges. Tamara needs funds for surgery, scans, radiation, any necessary medical procedures from a large team of specialists, and possible travel expenses. We hope to raise donations to ease her financial burden and to facilitate the treatment that will lead to her complete healing.
Tamara is a support to so many others. Most importantly, she is raising her precious six-year-old granddaughter, Eli. She works every day with incarcerated juveniles, and she has a real heart for this very vulnerable population. The at-risk kids with whom she works depend on her for comfort, support, guidance, and, when needed, some tough love. She is a positive, supportive presence in the lives of her colleagues. We love her and currently miss seeing her smiling face at work each day.
Tamara’s tumor is very large, which presents a challenge for the many physicians involved in her treatment. Like most meningiomas, hers is slow-growing and has likely been present for years. She did have some worrying but seemingly minor symptoms before this present crisis but, largely for financial reasons, she did not seek medical attention for these. It is critical that finances do not continue to present an obstacle to Tamara’s complete and total recovery. The need is great, and it is urgent. We are confident that generous donations will enable Tamara to receive the excellent medical attention she needs and to continue meeting daily expenses for herself and her family.
