ActionTrackChair for Scott Murdoch
Donation protected

My name is Shawn Murdoch. I am on active duty with the U.S. Army. My son Scott was born in 2004 with severe cerebral palsy. He cannot walk, sit or stand unassisted, he does not have the same freedoms as an average 10 year old boy. He currently has a standard electric wheelchair built for sidewalks or other paved surfaces. It does not do well at all off road, it easily gets stuck in anything more than hard packed dirt or light grass. We would like to purchase him an Action Track Chair, basically a wheelchair with rubber tracks instead of the thin bicycle style tires he currently has. It will not be for full time use but for use when he wants to play in grassy areas with his friends or go explore wooded areas or anywhere else he can't currently go with his disabilities. Basically give him the freedom and mobility of any boy his age has and deserves. The model we are looking at is a used model but has been refurbished and is in a like new condition but is a few thousand cheaper than a new one. Grand total price for the chair is $9,300 I'm asking for an additional $2,700 to adapt the chair for his use with a molded seat with a 5 point restraint seat belt and some other required adaptations to make the chair for him. Chairs like this one are deemed unnecessary by insurance companies so it must be purchased outright for the end user. Additionally no bank will fianace something like this for use by a handicapped child due to liability reasons. So I must ask all of you to assist in making a young boy's wish for freedom and mobility come true. Thank you for your time and potential donations.
