Dear friends,
Our dear friend, Trixie, is in need of surgery for both of her knees. Trixie's work in metal sculpture and fabrication throughout San Francisco and the greater Bay Area for the past 35 years, show little wear. Meanwhile, her body feels the results of that hard labor from lifting, manipulating, coercing and moving HEAVY materials and pieces for those past 35 years.
Since being laid off two years ago, Trixie has been on disability and has only been able to afford minimal health insurance which leaves high deductibles and excessive out of pocket costs. We are looking for any help that could help her take on the huge challenge that is our modern medical industrial complex and support her process in healing and feeling good in her body again.
Earlier this year, Trixie was involved in an accident while helping build a backyard canopy for a family member and tore her meniscus. This injury reduced her range of motion and added to her chronic pain, causing her doctor to recommend that she gets a total knee replacement for both of her knees. For now, Trixie is having total knee replacement surgery on her right knee on Dec. 20. This is actually her birthday and she is giving herself the gift of easier movement.
If you know Trixie, you know her incredible generosity. She will literally give you the shirt off her back, the hat off her head, the jewelry she is wearing; sometimes because you need it more than she does, but sometimes simply because you like it.
Trixie's generosity shines professionally also. Dozens of artists, fabricators, finishers, painters, sculptors, welders, ironworkers, designers (even architects!) find more success through the knowledge gained through her knowledge, experience, and teachings.
Let's reciprocate the generosity to Trixie that she continuously embellishes our lives with. As community, let's give her the birthday present she wishes for and needs.
We are looking to help her cover the costs of her high rate deductibles for surgery, rehabilitation, medical equipment and for support during recovery over two surgeries. At this moment, we are concentrating on covering costs for the scheduled surgery and rehabilitation of her right knee which is totaling to around $15,000 just by itself. Any and all help from friends is deeply appreciated. We all hope to get her back on the dance floor!
