*** UPDATE ***
10/11/23, 1005a (PST) –
Aloha family and friends, we apologize for the delayed updates. We have been preparing for our son to come home He will be discharged from UCLA as of 10/07/23.
He will have a follow up appointment for an echocardiogram and physical to determine if he’s able to fly back home with us to Hawai’i.
Throughout our walks of life, we each go through our own trials and experience our own unique journeys. We appreciate each of you who prayed, shared his story, read his journey, donated, provided words of encouragement, and supported our family & son to make his first of his first chapter of life possible.
Mahalo to all of the organizations that helped us get this far. To our friends and families that reached out to us, called, and donated, thank you for the love and support.

The past few days for Tristyn has been remarkable here at the ICU. He’s been able to bottle feed every 3 hours at 2 oz every bottle. He also able to keep his temperature and heart rate on his own without any assistance. Tristyn is starting to be himself again.
He’ll stay here in the ICU till his chest tubes are removed. Chest tubes have been placed after the surgery to help drain out the excess blood and fluid in his chest.

Sorry for not getting back to anyone who’s been trying to reach us. Today was another big day for Tristyn ❤️ They removed him from the ventilator and is now on the oxygen cannula. He’s now awake and alert of his surroundings.
Today, Ti’irie was able to see her brother for the first time since surgery and she’s been bedside since. The Doctors plan to restart his feedings in the next 2 hours, and slowly get him rested till his chest slowly heals.
Thank you for all the continued prayers and support ❤️

Tristyn is doing good with his recovery and yesterday was a big step for him ❤️ They started his feeds yesterday and hoping for him to come off the ventilator in the next couple of days. He continues to show signs of improvements, and that he’s ready for the next steps towards a quick recovery. God has blessed our lives with amazing friends and family. And allows us to wake up each day.
We thank each and every person, who contributed, prayed, and reached out! Your blessing and prayers help us bring our son home a little closer each day. With love and gratitude, thank you to each one of you for the continued support and love.

Tristyn’s surgery went very well and the doctors are very pleased with the progress. Baby is doing okay, still a little swollen from the surgery. But he’s been active and squirming a lot today. Tristyn is such a strong boy and definitely a fighter ❤️

Tristyn is currently out of surgery and started his recovery in the PICU here at UCLA. Doctors did inform us that he will stay here for the next 2 weeks to heal and recover. My family and I are still waiting to be by his at this time. Thank you to all who donated and sending prayers of healing and strength.
We appreciate you and grateful for your love and support during this time for us ❤️
********************************
Hiiii everyone, I am Tristyn Jahviah Rebola. My Mommy Jess & Daddy Tim have been keeping me as their secret, here’s why you may not have seen me yet …
I was born on July 17, 2023 and was diagnosed with Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR) is a birth defect of the heart. In a baby with TAPVR, oxygen-rich blood does not return from the lungs to the left atrium. Instead, the oxygen-rich blood returns to the right side of the heart.
Mommy and Daddy says it is because my heart is so BIG. Mommy, Daddy and my big sister, Ti’irie Jade, have been helping me since I was born to make sure I get big and strong. I am now 2 months old and weigh 8 lbs.
The doctors at Kaiser have been helping me with this, and helping me grow big and strong. I even had the best doctors fly out to Hawaii to help do my first open heart surgery within 24 hours of being born. Special thanks to Dr. Capecci, Dr. Lambardi, and Dr. Stefanelli!!! You’re the real heroes.
Since I came out into this world, I’ve been through 2 surgeries: 1 open heart surgery (TAPVR Repair) and another in California. It’s been fun with my family but it’s been challenging at the same time. I even got to go with Mommy, Daddy and sissy to California to Rady’s Children Hospital for my 2nd surgery to make sure everything was okay and do a procedure called Pulmonary Vein Stenosis. The doctor made my heart stronger to prolong my big surgery from happening too soon (since I am still little) …. But now we have to go back.
On 09/20/23 my heart doctor told my mommy and daddy that we will need to go to California to do another open heart surgery on my heart again.
We’ve been hoping to prolong this surgery, but it’s looking like it has to be done. I will need open heart surgery on Monday, 09/25/2023. They have someone really good at UCLA to help my heart. My mommy and Daddy said this is the big surgery and hope that we won’t have to come back to California after this. Mommy will be going with me, and I hope my daddy and big sister can too.
From our family to yours … My mommy, my daddy, sister, and I are asking for any help, large or small, to get us to California to stay with me to get my 3rd heart surgery (Pulmonary Confluence redo) done. I need to be here for at least 2 weeks to heal and recover. During this time, my Mommy, Daddy and sister will fly with me and make sure I come home ready to take on the world … Stronger and healthier than ever before.
Any & all prayers are appreciated during this time, any donation(s), and words of love are always welcomed.
Any and all donation(s) would be for our:
Travel expenses
Gas
Food
Lodging
Bills from our visit
From my Mommy & Daddy – To our friends, family and all who would like to contribute:
God has many ways of blessing our lives in ways you would not have imagined … God has blessed us with a strong son surrounded by great family and friends.
To all of you who have been checking in on us, and praying for us:
Words cannot express the gratitude and love from our family to all of you. Your strength, has given us strength. Your love, has blessed our lives and helped us make it through this obstacle
daily.
My family and I would like to thank all of you who have prayed and donated to our family. Anything is appreciated, prayers and words of kindness and strength are always welcomed.
