Tristan’s Documentary

Hello,

We are currently creating a film around the life and loss of Tristan Powell, who took his life when he was aged 17.

The project, which will gather together stories from his loved ones, will be premiered on what would have been his 27th birthday and the beginning of Suicide Prevention Month. This is a non-profit film, that Pia (Tristan’s Mother) has asked if we would be able to help her to make.

We are hoping to collate as many artefacts from Tristan's life as possible, accompanied by interviews from friends and loved ones surrounding his life journey and the journey that others around him have been through during and since his death. We hope hours of research and time spent with family and friends will lead to a really special piece.

When first looking into financing options for this project, we quickly decided against applying for grants. We were cautious about accepting any funding, as we may be asked to take direction and a narrative from an outside influence.

We wanted the project to only be led only by Tristan’s loved ones and take whatever direction it naturally takes, telling the story it is meant to tell.

Please see below the breakdown of what the money will be spent on.

• Feeding those being filmed/interviewed

• Kit hire cost

• Travel cost

• Overseas video subscription (to interview those not in the UK)

• Locations/screening hire

Any extra money remaining will be sent to charities of Pia’s choice.
