Tristan Coffman’s Brain Surgery Recovery Fund

Family and Friends,

As you might have heard, on February 2nd, Tristan and Mikaylie Coffman found out that Tristan, at 25 years old, had a Schwannoma Brain Tumor. Specialists in Atlanta referred Tristan to an expert in Miami. This required a flight to Miami for the two of them in order to create a plan of action with the surgeon. It was decided that Tristan would return to Miami on Monday, February 14th to begin the process to check into the Hospital using strict COVID protocols. On the evening of Wednesday, February 16th, Tristan began his 10 hour surgery to remove the tumor from his brain stem.

Thankfully, the team was able to remove 100% of the tumor and Tristan was sent to recovery in the ICU. They are hoping he will be discharged from the hospital early this week and Mikaylie and Tristan’s mom, Candy, will fly with Tristan back to Georgia.

We are thankful for a positive outcome from the surgery and looking forward to a full recovery for Tristan. However, the procedure and the cost of the flights to Miami have been a financial strain for the Coffmans. As many of you know, Tristan is currently completing his teaching degree and Mikaylie is in her fourth year of teaching. The couple also has a nearly 9 month old baby, Olivia. As all parents know, raising an infant is expensive and doing so on a teaching salary is even more difficult. It is our family’s hope to provide some financial support to Tristan and Mikaylie to ease the burden that this unexpected health scare has put on them.
