For the past several months, my sister Trisha has been dealing with an obstruction in her common bile duct. After several months and multiple procedures it was determined that she has Ampullary cancer (This is a rare condition that occurs when DNA changes cause cells in the ampullary of vater to develop abnormally. The ampulla of vater is the widened area where the pancreatic duct and bile duct meet before entering the small intestine. Unfortunately, the initial treatment for this is Whipple surgery. Trisha underwent the surgery yesterday at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Per her request, I am making this post to update everyone. I was able to see her today and other than having some pain, she was able to smile several times and told me she is going to be ok. Due to the complexity of the surgery and follow up, Trisha will be out of work for at least several weeks. Trisha’s main request is for everyone to pray for her.
