My friend, Trisha Tanner, was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Also known as Bile duct cancer.) in May of 2018. Cancer does not discriminate. Or have a type of person or age range. Trisha is only 47 years old and had 2 sons and a 3 year old grandson. After her diagnosis was confirmed she was referred to Northwestern for treatment. (This is a 3 hour drive each way.) The Tumor Conference decided to have Trisha start with 2 Y90 radiation treatments to shrink the 9cm tumor in her liver. During her radiation treatments 2 more lesions showed up in the right lobe and one smaller lesion in the left lobe. Once again the Tumor Conference met and scheduled Trisha to have her gallbladder removed and have the right lobe of her liver resected. After having that surgery she ran into a bile duct leak, which is extremely painful. She then had to go back to Northwestern to have a stint put in. She was home for one day after the stint was placed and then was admitted to Unity Point/Proctor for Colitis. Once she tackled that obstacle she had to make another trip to Northwestern to replace the stint with a larger metal stint. While she was there they did an ERCP and have found nodules in her lungs and a small lesion in her liver. One week later she had her first chemo treatment.
Trisha was able to work through the radiation treatments. Even though it wasn’t always easy being in so much pain. Once she had her surgery she needed to rest and recover. I mean they removed 2/3 of her liver. Anyone would need sometime off. Through this period of healing there was no income because Trisha doesn’t have short term disability. Since she didn’t have any income coming in she was going to start back at work. This disease had other plans. The day she was to come back to work was the day she had to have a stint put in. After the chain of events that have happened after the stint was placed have prevented Trisha from returning to work. She doesn’t have disability or income coming in. But her bills are still rolling in.
This fund is to help Trisha stay focused on her healing and beating this terrible disease. Anyone that knows her knows she’s tiny but packs a punch. Let’s help her focus on her healing and not her finances. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated!!
Much love xoxo
