Trish was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 6 months old. (Cystic Fibrosis is a genitic disease affecting the lungs and pancreas causing frequent lung infections and malnutrition). Life with Cystic Fibriosis has been tremendously challenging and filled with many doctors visits and hospital stays due to lung infections, multiple dailey meds and airway clearence treatments. Breathing for Trish is a daily struggle and even on good days she feels like she is breathing through a straw. 

Inspite of these struggles Trish has always strived to live a normal life and not let her illness keep her down. She is very compassionate towards everyone she meets and towards animals. As many of you know her passion for rescuing dogs. February of 2016 we started Purple Paws 2nd Chance rescue and in the first year we saved over 170 dogs. None of this would have been possible without Trish and her passion. Even when she wasn't having a good day she would go and get dogs from Kill Shelters to let them have a chance at life. She has 2 beautiful kids and a loving husband and countless friends that she always finds times for even when she is not having a good day. As her friends know she is always a phone call or a text away. She is always there for us all. 

As many of you know she went to Fairfax Inova hopsital with an infection and what we all thought would be just a normal hospital stay (well normal for her) turned out to be much worse than any of us imagined. Her body was not able to fight the infection and she had to be intubated. For several weeks that is where she was highly sedated and her body shutting down. Fairfax Inova had done what they could do and she had to be transported to University of Maryland Medical Center. The first week looked very grimm. But Trish being the fighter she is is making progress. With that being said she will not get to leave the hospital till she is well enough to get on the transplant list in which she needs a double long and liver transplant.  Her husband drives from Spotsylvania to Baltimore almost daily to be with her and back to Spotsylvania to also take care of their 2 kids.  They do have medical but still have to pay for a portion of her stay and treatments which right now we have no idea how long that will be. The donations will cover her medical, gas, food, lodging(when her husband needs to stay in Baltimore). If you can help in anyway every dollar will help.
