The Back Story

Hi, meet my sister, Patricia (aka, Trish), the youngest of 6 kids. As a baby, she was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, basically a whole in her heart.  She was expected to only live til age 10.  At age 6 she had life saving surgery and was one of the first surviving children to have this type of surgery in Philadelphia.  She has lived well past that, got married and was able to deliver via c-section her miracle baby 14 years ago. Life was great.

The Journey

In March of 2017, Trish was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had surgery to remove the tumor. Six months later the cancer was back. She was to start chemo within the next week. When the port was put in the day before chemo, her lung was punctured and collapsed. After 5 days of trying to get that resolved, she was able to start chemo which would be for 3-6 months.

Current Day

Chemo did not go well for her and due to complications had to stop only 5 weeks in. Her body kept rejecting the chemo. On to Philly with new doctors and they performed surgery to do a full hysterectomy, removed her appendix, and she had new cancer in a muscle in her leg which they removed.  After 5 weeks of waiting to find out if the cancer had spread, our worst nightmare happened.  She had Retroperitinel Mucinous Carcinoma in addition to Ovarian Cancer. Unfortunately, chemo didn’t touch any of the tumors. She will now need to have 5 weeks of radiation, 5 days a week.

Costs

Trish had to take short term disability for this surgery which will expire in early June and her place of employment will put her on Cobra for herself and her son. The fees will be astronomical. She will be out of work at least until September.

They have already incurred a lot of expenses. Each chemo treatment she had a copay and still paid into her insurance. She had a big deductible for her surgery.  This next round of treatment, she will be incurring even more expenses.

Reason for this Gofundme

Trish and her husband Daryl aren’t ones to ask for help especially when it comes to money so I’m asking this on their behalf. Your donations will help to pay for Trish’s Cobra payments, copays for treatment, food expenses while at the hospital, help with their mortgage so they have a roof over their head, and other medical expenses ahead.

Our Thanks

From the bottom of our hearts we truly appreciate any amount you can give. If you can’t give we totally understand and we will take any prayers you can send her way. She has been one of the strongest people I know going through this extremely difficult time.  She’s dealt with this with such class, laughter, determination and love from her family and friends.
