Trip’s Army

On August 2nd, 2022 John William Cook III (AKA, Trip) made his grand debut into this world. Born at just 35 weeks and 4 days, Trip weighed 7lbs 4oz and measured 19 3/4 inches long. As common in premature babies, Trips lungs were underdeveloped, quickly causing him major respiratory issues. He was transferred to the NICU at Wolfson Children’s Hospital for close observation. Unfortunately, his body had little muscle strength for breathing and he was intubated. Trip is currently receiving 98% oxygen support through an oscillating ventilator. Even with the mechanical intervention, Trip has shown little improvement. Wolfson Children’s hospital has taken great care of Trip but have minimal treatment options moving forward. Doctors are running a multitude of tests to narrow in on a diagnosis but have already discussed the possibility of Trip needing a full lung transplant. They have been in communication with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and there is a chance Trip will be transferred within the next week.

Life for Brandy and John has changed dramatically as they begin this journey with their sweet boy. As you can imagine, Trip’s treatment will bring many unexpected medical and travel expenses. My goal is to help lighten the financial burden so they can focus solely on taking care of Trip. All donations made here will help achieve that goal and will bless this family during their time of need.

Brandy and John rely heavily on their faith in our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. They know that God’s will for Trip is bigger than any of us could ever imagine. Please, if you are unable to make a donation, extend a prayer instead. Pray for comfort, health, and healing. We serve a mighty God and through prayer his will, will prevail!

Out of respect for the new parents, please refrain from asking questions. There are still a lot of unknowns at this time. Updates of Trip’s condition/ progress will be posted as they come. Let’s instead shower them with messages of thoughtfulness and love. Thank you all in advance for your support.
