Hi, my name is Miyuki and I'm fundraising for a trip to India to practice with my teacher, Sharathji in India.
I've been practicing Ashtanga yoga for 8 years and I've been dreaming about going to practice with the head teacher, Sharathji in India. Not only being accepted to practice with him is hard, but I also have to commit to going there for one-month minimum. This time, I got accepted for a two-month program for the first time.
I teach yoga in studios, private, and work at a restaurant night but living in California is very expensive and barely making savings. When I do, some family emergency happens and I have to start over.
Last month, my grandmother who is 92 years old got hospitalized with pneumonia and I had to go back to Japan. I was there for a month to take care of her and help my ill father and brother. I couldn't work during that time.
Usually, I give up and go "Maybe next year." but this time is different. I saw my grandmother, father, and brother getting old and becoming ill, I realized that life is short and I have to do it when I can.
I've been in the US for about 13 years now, I started building new patterns within this culture. I believe that going to India and experiencing different cultures and practicing yoga intensively would help me to break my pattern and create healthy habits. So I can pursue my dream- having my yoga studio and spreading yoga to more people.
