Liebe Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer, wir sind Dominic und Elena, die Gründer der Non-Profit-Organisation JeViVo. Gemeinsam setzen wir uns für die Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen in benachteiligten Regionen ein. Heute möchten wir euch ein dringendes Anliegen vorstellen: den Ausbau eines Trinkwasserbrunnens mit Solarpumpe und einem Speichertank in Shikumu Village, Kakamega County, Kenia.

Momentane Ausganglage: Shikumu Village ist die Heimat von etwa 2.500 Menschen, darunter viele Kinder. Momentane Situation: nächste Wasserquelle liegt über 2 Kilometer von dem Shikumu Village entfernt, was besonders für Kinder und ältere Menschen eine große Belastung darstellt.

Zwischenlösung: Auf diese Umstände können wir mit einer Übergangslösung reagieren. Mit Barakah Charity wird momentan eine Handpumpe direkt im Dorf errichtet. Zwar ist sauberes Wasser nun im Dorf verfügbar, doch leider können nicht mehrere Personen gleichzeitig die Wasserpumpe bedienen, was den dringend benötigten Zugang stark einschränkt. Drei Minuten pro Behälter und somit pro Person ist ein Fakt. Somit kann nur schwer das ganze Dorf am Tag mit sauberem Wasser versorgt werden.

Endprodukt: Hierbei ist der Wassertank die folgerichtige Massnahme, welche für Nachhaltigkeit in verschiedenen Anliegen sorgt.

Warum eure Unterstützung entscheidend ist:

1. Der Wassertank kann das Projekt des Gewächshauses vorantreiben, welches mit der Handpumpe nicht umgesetzt werden kann.

2. Es können mehrere Personen gleichzeitig Wasser beziehen.

3. Aussenstellen im ganzen Dorf verteilt

4. Keine Benachteiligung von weiterentfernten / älteren Personen

5. Zukunftsprojekte wie das Gewächshaus, Wasser, Sanitärversorgung und Hygieneprojekt sowie einer Erste Hilfe Klinik können vorangetrieben werden.

Um von der Handpumpe zum Wassertank zu kommen, müssen einige Punkte umgesetzt werden:

Für eine Wasserpumpe muss weiter in die Tiefe gebohrt werden und eine Solarpumpe ist Voraussetzung. Ein Gerüst für den Wassertank ist ebenfalls notwendig.

Unser Ziel: Um dieses lebensverändernde Projekt umzusetzen, benötigen wir 25.000 CHF. Jeder Beitrag, egal wie groß oder klein, bringt uns einen Schritt näher, das Leben der Menschen in Shikumu Village nachhaltig zu verbessern.

Dear Supporters,

We are Dominic and Elena, the founders of the non-profit organization JeViVo. Together, we are committed to improving living conditions in disadvantaged regions. Today, we would like to introduce you to an urgent cause: the construction of a drinking water well equipped with a solar pump and a storage tank in Shikumu Village, Kakamega County, Kenya.

Current Situation: Shikumu Village is home to approximately 2,500 people, including many children. The nearest water source is over 2 kilometers away, which poses a significant burden on villagers, especially the elderly, mopthers and children.

Interim Solution: In response to this urgent need, Barakah Charity is currently in the process of installing a hand pump directly in the village. While this does provide access to clean water, the constraints of the hand pump system mean that only a limited number of people can draw water at the same time—approximately one person can fill a container every three minutes. This severely restricts access to clean water for the entire village throughout the day.

Optimal Solution: The logical next step is to install a water tank, which would ensure sustainable access to clean water while also addressing several other vital community needs.

Why Your Support is Crucial:

Advantages of a Water Tank:

1.⁠ ⁠Boosting Food Security Through Greenhouses: The water tank would facilitate the establishment of a greenhouse project, which cannot be realized with just the hand pump. This project would:

- Provide nutritious food for children.

- Drastically increase food security, thereby improving the income of local residents.

- Introduce residents to various fertilizer-free farming methods, positively changing local agricultural practices.

2.⁠ ⁠Simultaneous Access to Water: A water tank would allow multiple people to draw water at the same time, alleviating long queues and providing faster access to this essential resource.

3.⁠ ⁠Convenient Distribution: Outlets can be distributed throughout the village, ensuring that all residents, including those who live further away or are elderly, have equal access to clean water.

4.⁠ ⁠Foundation for Future Projects: The installation of a water tank can serve as a stepping stone for future initiatives, including additional water, sanitation, hygiene projects, and even a first aid clinic.

Next Steps:

To transition from the hand pump to a water tank, several critical measures need to be implemented:

•⁠ ⁠Drilling deeper into the ground to accommodate a robust water pump.

•⁠ ⁠Acquiring a solar pump, which is essential for sustainable water extraction.

•⁠ ⁠Constructing a scaffold to support the new water tank.

Our Goal: To realize this life-changing project, we need CHF 25,000. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us one step closer to sustainably improving the lives of the people in Shikumu Village.
