Hello Family and Friends,
On January 2nd, 2023, Trinity was admitted to Children’s Hospital due to low oxygen level, weakness and overall, not feeling well. It was unsure what the cause may be as she tested negative for Covid, RSV and influenza.
On January 4th, while on Pulmonary floor, her oxygen level desaturated to the 30’s and was rushed to ICU for higher care. In ICU, it was determined that she needed a bipap machine for support during sleep. We were informed by the physician that she was probably struggling with sleep apnea for awhile (she’s been sick for months) and because of it, one side of her heart is enlarged.
After two weeks of being hospitalized we were moved to the Rehab department for occupational and physical therapy. Since Trinity had been sick for a few months, she became very weak and unable to walk on her own. We were on a two week treatment plan with an anticipating discharged date of January 31.
As discharged time came closer, we were excited and ready to go home. We thought Trinity was doing well and getting stronger by the day. However, on Thursday, January 26th, after her physical therapy session, her therapist had addressed some concerns to the physician that showed signs of a spinal cord injury. A STAT MRI test was ordered the next day.
After the MRI was completed, we were given the news that she was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and an emergent surgery will needed to be done. Without it, she can become permanently paralyzed. We were shocked with the findings as we thought she was making progress. Surgery was schedule on Monday, January 30th.
With that being said, we are so grateful that surgery went fairly well with some mild bumps along the way only. We were informed by the physician today that she’ll be hospitalized for another month to help care of post-surgery, physical and occupational therapy, and a variety of assistance to get her back to base line.
As you can imagine this past month have not been easy for our family. Jr and I have been on FMLA for a month and exhausted our PTO account. We are here to ask for any donations during this difficult time. The funds will towards any uninsured medical expenses.
Again, we appreciate all the love, well-wishes and support that has been given to us during this difficult time.
