For over a century, the Trinity War Memorial has stood as a solemn tribute to the former pupils and staff who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars. Originally funded by the Old Midwhitgiftians, it remains our most significant site of remembrance for those who sacrificed everything for our future freedoms.
The Project
Recent research by alumni historians Mark Gardiner and Neil Mackenzie has uncovered additional names that were not previously recorded. Sadly, the existing memorial has no remaining space to include them. This means that several members of the Trinity community who made the ultimate sacrifice are not currently recognised.
To mark the 60th anniversary of our move to Shirley Park, the school and the Trinity Club are committed to ensuring these individuals are properly commemorated.
Our Vision
We plan to install a new granite stone and recast plaques. These will:
Include the newly identified names alongside those already honoured.
Provide space for future discoveries, ensuring the memorial remains a complete record.
Preserve the original design, maintaining the aesthetic and historical setting of the memorial.
How You Can Help
We are seeking to raise £25,000 to complete this vital project. Your donation will help us ensure that every member of the Trinity community who gave their life is honoured with the dignity they deserve.
On behalf of the Trinity Club, thank you for your support.
