Trinity UMC Virtual Pumpkin Patch
Donation protected
In 1999, Trinity UMC of Wilmette opened its first October pumpkin patch fundraising project for mission and charity support. Over the 21 years since, Trinity has raised over $260,000 for charity and mission while creating a Wilmette tradition for celebrating the Fall and Halloween season. Each year, hundreds of North Shore residents wait for Trinity's pumpkin patch to open before purchasing their gourds and pumpkins - knowing well that their purchases are helping people locally, regionally, and internationally. In recent years, many community volunteers have enjoyed assisting with unloading and selling pumpkins from our lawn display.
A partial list of past beneficiaries includes: Senegal mission agriculture initiative; Senegal mission children feeding program; UMCOR hurricane relief; University Christian Ministry at Northwestern University; Wilmette Police-Clergy Fund; A Just Harvest, United Church of Rogers Park, Outside the Walls prison ministry, and Boy Scout Troop 3 of Wilmette.
In the Fall of 2019, Trinity made arrangements to hold the pumpkin patch again in October 2020; however, the world pandemic has made it unwise to hold this outdoor market. We have chosen to postpone the event until 2021 to keep the public and our volunteers safe.
Yet, the charities and missions continue to need our support. We are asking those who would have purchased pumpkins and gourds from us this year to donate in this virtual pumpkin patch so that we may continue to assist others around the world. In the past three years, we have raised an average of $19,000 that has gone straight to those we serve. Your donation will go 100% to the charity and mission work we support. Thank you!
