Trinity is a strong-willed woman that is a mother of 7 children. That has never been more clear since her initial surgery on February 13th.
Backstory:
January of this year our mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. On February 13th Trinity had surgery to remove the infected part of the colon and have her small intestine reattached. The surgery went as expected and the doctors were hopeful that her surgery recovery would go well. This is where I should tell you that everything went to plan and she made a speedy recovery, however, that is not the case. After a couple of days in recovery, she started to struggle to keep anything in her stomach. She had two solid days where she would spew up everything that touched her stomach. The violent contractions from the throwing up caused a small tear to form where the intestine and colon were attached, leaking waste and bile into the body cavity. Trinity was rushed into surgery for the second time in a week, where they repaired the leak and cleaned up as much waste and bile as they could.
However, this time around she was not recovering as well and was put in ICU, where she has been since the 22nd of February. We have been on a rollercoaster journey and every day brings a new set of challenges. She was making progress towards going back up to recovery when her lungs started to fail and not function as they should. In order to combat this, she was put on a Bipap machine. Although her o2 levels were increasing from the Bipap machine, it was becoming very difficult for her to breathe. She was exerting so much energy trying to breathe, her body could not heal. The only option left was to insert a breathing tube. At this point, her heart rate dropped significantly, blood pressure was at an all-time low, and her chances of survival were slim. Family members were called and told they need to come to be with her because her chances were not looking good. However, Trinity is a fighter and she is not done fighting.
Over the last 3 days, she has made small improvements. She is starting to get color back in her skin, she is a little more responsive, and her vitals are improving. She is not out of the woods yet and she has a long slow recovery ahead. The doctors are remaining cautiously optimistic as we take her recovery one day at a time.
What do we need help with?
The funds from this will go to help offset medical costs and household expenses that her income would otherwise offset. She owns a bridal store that is unable to be open while she is recovering, but rent is still expected to be paid during this time. When she is not at a sewing machine performing alternations, the household of four loses a financial contribution.
Trinity is a strong-willed woman that is a fighter. She has not given up and continues to fight for her life. The small improvements every day are little victories showing that she has some fight left in her yet. Anything that you can do to help out would go a long way and be greatly appreciated.
