Trina’s Fight Against Cancer
As many of you know, Trina Brereton was suddenly diagnosed in May 2019 with stage 4 colon cancer, that had spread to her liver. This was a shocking diagnosis to hear for a healthy, active 47 year old. The devastating news has impacted Trina immensely, and has taken her and her partner Art on an unimaginable, heartbreaking journey.
Trina was diagnosed with colon cancer that had spread to her liver and lymph nodes - she immediately started her treatment process of maintenance chemotherapy. Consisting of three days each treatment- one in hospital and two at home with a take home bottle of the chemotherapy which happens every other Wednesday. She is currently awaiting surgery for a colectomy, in order to give her an ostomy bag as well as possibly remove part of her bowel. The hope is that this surgery will provide relief from the pain, less restrictions regarding diet and lifestyle, and lower the chance of recurring bowel blockages. In August, Trina also received a surgery to implant a stent into her bowel, to help the affected area of her bowl process foods in order to prevent a blockage and/or a rupture. Trina has also been admitted/visited the hospital several times for immense abdominal pain, which has resulted in hours and hours of waiting in hospital rooms for various medicines and treatment for the pain. Trina also suffers from chronic back pain, from a herniated disc a few years ago. Unfortunately, the hospital beds do not provide much comfort during her stays, and she often suffers from back pain on top of her abdominal pain.
Trina has gone through this battle against cancer with the utmost positivity... Even through all of the hurdles that come her way, she remains strong and continues to fight for her daughters; Isabelle, Hillary and Clarissa. With Art by her side on a daily basis, Trina continues to fight for her family and her life.
At this point in time, Trina and Arts family would like to reach out for help on their behalf. The continued love, support, prayers and financial assistance will go a long way for Trinas treatment plan. This is the most stressful and devastating thing to watch a loved one go through, not to mention all of the added stress of bills and medical expenses that pile up. It would be a christmas miracle to be able to see them fight this battle together, comfortably, without the anxiety and stress of every day life.
We truly are hoping this campaign can make a difference and give Trina the best quality of life that she whole-heartedly deserves.
Created with much love from Trinas daughters: Isabelle, Hillary and Clarissa Froom; and Arts great niece: Kayla Shipston.
