Trina has struggled with cancer for many years. The once vibrant, busy, and energetic girl from Plant City is now living a challenge with bravery few others would.
With a joyful and cheerful exterior, she masks the very difficult challenges she’s been living with for many years. Only her family and closest friends really understand what she has endured since the “C” word entered our lives. Having endured many difficult, invasive, and painful surgeries, devastating chemotherapy, and multiple series of radiation, she finds ways to continue living her life joyfully, selflessly sharing her cheerful attitude with those around her. Being a shoulder to others struggling with her own medical issues.
As the disease has progressed, however, her ability to maintain many of her daily activities has become increasingly diminished along with her duties at the Brandon Eye Clinic. It is difficult watching Trina get ready for work…and go to work on days being so sick. Always afraid to miss more hours over the ones spent at the Moffitt Cancer Center. “No one” I know has the guts to endure what she has…putting a smile over pain on any given day. As medication has become less effective and her physical condition has declined, oral chemotherapy has been diagnosed to calm down painful “hot spots” on her spine.
The decision to look towards disability has become an option to lessen her physical challenges. This process requires her to drastically reduce her hours for a period of 5-6 months while the disability process takes place. During this period of time, she’ll have a fraction of the ability to earn which is the motivating factor in setting up this Go Fund.
This very long period of time, with virtually no income will make it impossible to maintain her financial responsibilities and will create tremendous stress…the one thing she should not endure. With that said, the Go Fund is being set up for people who love Trina and wish to see her take on this challenge. Though every contribution large and small is truly a blessing, there must be a goal to attain. After much prayer and consideration, the goal for the fund will be $10,000.00. This will allow her to maintain her financial responsibilities while the disability process takes place.
When I started dating Trina, her mother, Linda, told me “Trina has a lot of love to give.” No truer words have been spoken. Always with a smile and a laugh to all of us while she struggles with her own difficulties. To everyone who contributes, there are no words to express our appreciation for your expression of love towards Trina…but Thank-you!
