Help Trina Battle Cancer
Donation protected
Hi my name is Debbie and I’m fund raising for my daughter Trina.
It all started with a cough. A cough that turned out to be a rare cancer called a thymoma. Not only that, but it was huge. Measuring 21.3 x 11.7 x 14.9 cm. It had collapsed part of her lung, was pressing against her heart, was compressing 3 arteries and her bronchial tubes. The doctors honestly couldn’t believe she was relatively ok given the size. To be honest, I think they were surprised she was even alive. The good thing about that though, is things moved quickly. Originally the plan was to jump straight to surgery, through a procedure called a clamshell thoracotomy. But just before, the surgeon consulted a team of specialists, and the oncologist suggested starting with chemo, not only in hopes of being able to perform a less invasive procedure, but also in hopes of not risking the surrounding structures, given everything it was pressing on and compressing.
Surgery was cancelled, and her chemo journey began. So far, she has gone through two rounds, lost her hair, and is going to be going through round three soon. We don’t actually know how many rounds it might take, or how long this whole ordeal may last. The hope is that it responds well to the chemo, so we can move forward with surgery.
It’s been a rough couple years. She lost her father, suddenly, just over a year ago. He was only 59. And it’s rough not only to not have him there through this, but also to have her family so far away. Luckily we keep in close contact, and she has some wonderful and supportive friends close at hand. I will also be traveling out to be there through her surgery and recovery.
All through this, she is still attempting to work as much as she can, but cancer isn’t just rough on the body, it’s rough on the mind and the wallet. She is a strong woman, and she struggles asking for help. But she’s in her hour of need. Any donations will go to her treatment and recovery, and hopefully ease the financial burden, so she can focus on getting through this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
