Tricia's Journey: Caring for Mom Through Illness

I'm setting this up in hopes if helping Tricia avoid financial crisis while she takes care of her mom (and her sister). Her mom had been battling a rare form of lung cancer for two years now. She went through trial treatments and defied the odds the doctos gave her. Recently, she took ill with pneumonia, the infection than sent her into sepsis. Her mom is currently home, but her health is very poor and needs Tricia's constant care. She has had to talk leave from work and I'd hate to see her struggle because she's being a good and present daughter & sister.

Directly from Tricia:

I am here to share an update about mom’s status. We were able to take her off hospice and call in home health. They brought a mobile X-ray to our house last Thursday and we spoke to our PCP today about the results.

Mom has inflammation in her lungs and some residual something that cannot be determined if it’s edema or pneumonia. They will continue to treat her with oral antibiotics and anti fungal meds along with some lasix and redo the X-ray in a week, but mom has been improving.

However, with the extended hospital stay, mom is currently bed bound from extreme muscle atrophy. We are awaiting ST, OT, and PT from home health to start coming weekly and help mom try to rebuild her strength.

This will be a long road to make the gains and get mom back to her status quo or stronger.

I’ve been off work since June 13th and will restart July 17th, but I’ve been trying to remain super present to help mom with all the things she needs for food, pain, meds, movement for turning, etc.

While I don’t know where this journey will lead us, our faith in God remains steadfast. He has guided us this far and I will continue to use my instincts directed by him to help mom.
