Tricia Wood went into cardiac arrest last Wednesday evening at home. Thankfully her boyfriend Billy was there and he immediately started CPR, while calling 911. The EMT,s arrived and continued to work on her. For 42 minutes. For 42 minutes she had NO PULSE. They performed continuous CPR, hit her 4X with defibrillator, hit her 4X with Epi. For 42 minutes. Once they got a pulse, she was put on a vent, sedated and underwent hypothermic treatment. A heart echo performed at the time showed the efficiency of her heart at 15%. Billy and her oldest son Patrick were informed of the likely possibility of her not recovering neurologically due to how long she went without a pulse. 40 hours later Tricia regained consciousness without any noticeable neurological inefficiencies. It’s a miraculous occurrence in a line of miraculous occurrences for her and her family. She will be undergoing open-heart surgery this coming week that will come with a lengthy road to recovery after.
