It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Joan Parish, a highly regarded member of the Colorado music community. Patricia passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2023, with her oldest son, Russel, by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Despite being given a six-month prognosis at the time of her Stage 4 diagnosis, Patricia fought for three and a half years.

Patricia was born in January 1959 in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada to Jack and Eugenia Parish, and grew up with her sisters, Karen and Michelle. As a bright and inquisitive child, she was passionate about reading and learning. Patricia migrated to the United States with her family in 1962, and began playing guitar and singing at the age of 15. Patricia attended several schools growing up, eventually graduating from Shepaug High School in 1977.

After graduating from high school, Patricia set out to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional singer and songwriter. During her early twenties, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery that took her to different parts of the United States. However, she always found herself returning to Colorado, a place she affectionately called home. Her deep admiration for the majestic mountains and serene lakes was what kept her coming back, even when she ventured elsewhere. While in her early twenties, she was offered a chance to visit and stay in Nashville to pursue a career as a country western star. However, she decided not to follow that path, as it would have required her to give up being a mother. Instead, she focused on her professional career and attended the University of Colorado, where she obtained a degree in psychology. Patricia held various jobs throughout her life, always putting her sons first and striving to achieve the American Dream for her family. She excelled in every position she held and was always eager to pursue something bigger and better.

In addition to her singing, songwriting, and work, Patricia was a devoted mother to her two children, Russel and Jordan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was cooking meals together or hiking in the Colorado mountains. Patricia had many beloved pets that brought her great joy, and she was also an avid gardener who took pride in tending to her flower gardens.

Patricia will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a kind and generous soul who always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she met. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of countless people over the years.

Patricia is survived by her children, Russel and Jordan, her three sisters, Karen, Michelle, and Linda, her Mother Eugenia and several other relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Patricia's family and close friends at the American Legion Hall Post 39 in Manitou Springs, Colorado at 3:30 PM, April 22nd, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her GoFundMe page or privately.

In memory of Patricia, her family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the medical expenses and funeral costs incurred during her battle with cancer. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Rest in peace, Patricia Parish. You will be deeply missed and always remembered for your kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for your family and community.
