Tribute to Virginia McAlester

Tax deductible
The Harvard Club of Dallas is joining Preservation Dallas to honor Virginia Savage McAlester.  Virginia was the first woman President of the Harvard Club of Dallas and was instrumental in the Club's development.  Virginia served as the Club’s President from 1987-1988.  This opportunity has been organized for our community by Dulany Howland: our friend, Virginia's friend, and long-time leader currently Director Emeritus of the Harvard Club of Dallas.

This initiative will honor Virginias’ historic preservation accomplishments in Dallas through:

-A commissioned sculpture dedicated to her attributes to be created by local artist Kat Warwick for placement in Savage Park, named for Virginia’s parents. This initial project will be unveiled with a dedication ceremony in Spring of 2021.

-A Tribute Fund to honor her legacy of preservation advocacy in Dallas by establishing matching grant opportunities to fund programs and surveys in key historic neighborhoods and venues like Fair Park.

-An on-going Virginia Savage McAlester educational program in partnership with the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and other partners organizations for lectures, scholarship in historic preservation and neighborhood advocacy.

For more information on Virginia see the following link (http://hcdallas.clubs.harvard.edu/article.html?aid=612) to Dulany Howland’s tribute to her which contains a link to an article on her in D Magazine!

All funds raised by the Harvard Club of Dallas via this GoFundMe initiative will be contributed to Preservation Dallas for the Virginia Savage McAlester Tribute.
