Tribute to Monique Sanderson- Mata

Family and Friends. It is with very heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Monique Sanderson-Mata AKA “Mochacha.” Monique passed away on the evening of February 1, 2021. Below you will find a touching tribute written by her loving family.

Monique. Where can we even start? You were an inspiration to all who have crossed your path. Your positivity was infectious and your laughter was contagious. You were a fire that burnt so big and bright. Our memories of you and conversations with you will ensure that your fire never burns out. Your contributions as an artist within our community have impacted so many and your imprint will live on. You were a part of so much and touched so many lives with your AZ/NM connection, Phoenix Fridas, Creation Station, and with Con/Safos. You were such a brave soul and will be truly missed by all. There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains.

Money raised will be used for funeral/memorial expenses and be presented to the family in the coming days. It is moments like these that we as family and friends of Monique come together and create a memorable celebration of her life.
