Join us in making 2024 the year we pay tribute to the incredible community literary work of Moonstone Arts Center and Larry Robin. My name is Aaren Perry and I’m working with a large group of dedicated writers and Moonstone Arts fans to organize a celebration this fall and to raise $10,000! Funds support the Moonstone Art Center’s ongoing programming you know and love, keep Moonstone Press running, preserve the organization’s amazing archives, and help plan for a robust future of making space for writers and artists in Philadelphia.
Donate $50 and receive a limited edition fine art poster created by a Philadelphia artist from one of the 18 Black Writers Conferences and other historic writers events. Donate $100 to receive a framed poster. Donate $1000 to become an Angel Donor and co-founder of the Moonstone Future Artists Fund. All gifts go directly to Moonstone Arts Center with an accounting published in September.
Your donation of any amount ensures Moonstone will continue its Philadelphia tradition of providing literary resources and free events open to all. The Tribute event will celebrate the living legacy of Larry Robin's extraordinary achievements with light refreshments, music, a proclamation, poetry, visual art, awards, and a book exchange.
Many of us have connections with Larry and Moonstone Arts Center. All of Philadelphia has benefited from Larry’s influence in making the region a more livable place. You may have gone to school at Moonstone’s Early Childhood Education Program, founded by Larry and Sandy Robin. You may be published by Moonstone Press. You may have participated in New Voices, the Annual Poetry Ink readings, Celebration of Black Writing, Festival Cubano, The Paul Robeson Festival, the Hidden Story Programs, the International Voices readings on Zoom, or another of Moonstone’s successful programs. You may have stood at an open mic at Fergie’s Pub and spoken your first poem in public¡ You might still have that copy of Tropic of Cancer you bought from Robin’s Book Store while they successfully defied the censorship ban on the book! For more on Moonstone Arts Center, check out the organization’s website or the Moonstone Arts Center Wikipedia page.
