Tribute to Gregory Teasley
Donation protected
Greg Teasley died on March 23 of cardiac arrest. He enjoyed getting people together for conversation, celebrations and good food, especially his greens and oyster stuffing. He developed friendships everywhere he lived - Detroit, MI, Ithaca, NY, Hartford, CT and Washington, DC. He will be remembered for his big heart, his laughter and concern for others. He has friends from kindergarten, he made friends at art openings, at political and community events and his church. When I moved to DC in 2006, he introduced me to many wonderful people who welcomed me into the community.
Greg and I met at age 14 and we have been friends over 57 years. He has no immediate family. I have been entrusted to fulfill his wishes for cremation, funeral Mass at Holy Comforter St Cyprian Catholic Church and take his ashes back to Detroit to be scattered in his favorite park which he visited often as a child with his father. As many of you may know Greg has had health challenges for several years. Unfortunately, he did not have the savings necessary to cover his cremation and funeral Mass. I am seeking assistance to fulfill the wishes of a wonderful person. We have indeed lost a friend and I a housemate.
