On behalf of the Gehringer family, I’m heartbroken to share that Chris Gehringer passed away on May 16th, 2025, after a brave battle with an extremely rare stage 4 cancer, mucinous adenocarcinoma of the appendix. He was only 30 years old, special needs, and celebrated his 30th birthday only 2 weeks prior.

He spent the last 3 months in hospice at home, with every determination to fight and get back to pushing carts at ShopRite, being with his friends, and eating all the foods he loves. His strength, smile, and humor brought joy and light to all of those who knew him. He endured a perforated colon, a fistula, and all the other complications of cancer, yet faced it all with a brave smile and heart. He even was working at ShopRite weeks before being put into hospice. Chris faced the most unfair challenges, and his loss has deeply impacted his family.

I’m setting up this fundraiser to help Chris’s family during this incredibly difficult time. Chris touched so many lives. His family would be deeply grateful for any support you can offer. All proceeds will go to the sole beneficiary Debra Gehringer, who is additionally donating proceeds to Chris’s favorite animal sanctuary.
