Marlene McGee had the heart of an angel and the spirit of a warrior. To be her friend you were kind, genuine, and sincere. She gave the world to her loved ones. Her tougher times only made her stronger, smarter, and more resilient. She cared so much for others, she may have been one of the kindest, most selfless souls to walk the Earth. So many people were touched by her special combination of love, grit and genuineness! She always had a positive spirit, the best hug, a listening ear, and a helping hand to lend. She always had to make sure everyone else was ok. She held you when you were low. She had a contagious smile and the warmest heart of anyone. She sparkled like no one else and no matter the craziness, it never seemed like she had a bad day. Everything felt warmer and safer when she was around. Marlene had a phenomenal personality. She was a one of a kind friend, woman, mother, grandmother, mentor, angel, and nurse. She made everyone feel she was their number one fan. She set the standard with her contagious personality and her decision making. There was an excitement each and every time she walked in and said “hey baby girl”, “hey baby”, or “baby squeeze” and gave the biggest, most meaningful hug as if it had been an eternity since the last shift together. That positivity each and every day can never be replaced. She was everyone’s friend and the most bad a$$ nurse. She made a big impact on everyone. She taught us to lead with our hearts. She touched so many lives and will never be forgotten. There’s a tear in our hearts that will take time to heal. Marlene, wherever you are, we all love you. We lost a good friend. Our time together was impactful. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Live your life with love, passion, and courage just as our beautiful friend Marlene McGee did. We will see you in heaven and we can share more stories then. Rest In Peace.
The money generated through this campaign will be divided into education funds for each of Marlene’s grandchildren who she loved dearly. Prayers for her family in this time of loss. Thank you, Marlene's campaign team (Kathy and Joe Watts, Martha Guilbeaux, Clive Chambers, and Betty Goodwin).
