Jill & Becky’s Triathlon for Deafinitely Women
A bit about Jill, Becky and DeafInitely Women…
Hey, I’m Jill Henshaw, a BSL/English Interpreter based in Derbyshire. Since August 2024 I’ve been on a mission to get myself fitter and healthier and after losing 5 stone I completed a sprint triathlon on 11th May 2025 (my first one since 2013!). I decided I loved it so much that I wanted to do another one and this time persuaded the lovely Becky to join me!
We agreed to do the Blithfield Sprint Triathlon in August 2025 to raise funds for Deafinitely Women, a cause close to both our hearts.
Hi, I’m Becky and I have worked for Deafinitely Women for 4 years as a Connections Worker and Advocate. I am nowhere near as fit and ready as the wonderful Jill, but I’m hoping this challenge will give me the perfect opportunity to get motivated again. I developed fibromyalgia in pregnancy 16 years ago and even struggled to walk at times. Through many ups and down with fitness, I have learnt to manage it and be active the best I can. I hope this long continues with support of fabulous people in my life. As a profoundly deaf woman myself, Deafinitely Women has empowered me personally and changed my life in many ways.
We see the great work Deafinitely Women does to empower other women and we hope that taking on this challenge will empower others to try something new.
Money raised for Deafinitely Women will help the charity to continue to support women who are going through domestic abuse, require advocacy services, wish to become more active, or need support to connect with others in accessible settings.
We will be updating you all with our training and remember, it’s about progress not perfection! ☺️
Thank you in advance for any donations you are able to make, no matter how small. Please remember to Gift Aid your donation if you are eligible ❤️
