On 4th October in Llandudno, North Wales, I’m taking on my first Olympic distance triathlon (1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run) to raise money for Wirral Animal Welfare Association (WAWA). They are a fantastic local charity supporting dogs and cats in the Wirral and Merseyside area, including my long-term foster dog, Buddy. They run on a purely voluntary basis with a team who collect animals, undertake vet visits, place animals for adoption, foster and sponsor animals and fundraise

Buddy has been with us for almost three years, and in that time WAWA has covered countless treatments to give him the best quality of life. He’s battled chronic ear infections, had multiple dental surgeries, BOAS surgery to help him breathe, treatment for severe allergies, and ongoing care for elbow dysplasia. Most recently, he even needed emergency eye surgery with costs of over £4,000.

Despite everything, Buddy is the happiest, sweetest boy, who loves nothing better to chase his ball and then have a cuddle on your lap ⚾
