Tri for Vi: A Fundraising Triathlon for Violet
Donation protected
Violet is my niece. She was born at 30 weeks with four-limbed Cerebral Palsy, has cerebral vision impairment, epilepsy and is non-verbal.
My brother and sister-in-law have been doing everything they can to help Violet. They’ve been taking her to doctors appointments, therapists, and providing her with all the resources she needs. But despite their best efforts, the costs involved in providing Violet with a high level of care are substantial.
I am taking part in the Athy Sprint Triathlon in Kildare on June 3rd to raise funds that will be used to provide Violet with access to additional therapies to support and enhance her mobility, cognitive functions and ability to communicate. The race includes a 750m open water swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.
Training for a triathlon isn’t easy. But every time I feel tired or discouraged, I think of Violet and how much this will mean to her. I know that with the support of our friends and family, I can complete this challenge and make a real difference in Violet’s life.
