Tri For Tommy

I am training to compete in my first ever half ironman triathlon, the Stafford 70.3 ironman 2022.

This is going to be a huge challenge for me and I'm determined to do it.

The ironman will consist of a 1.2 mile open water swim, instantly followed by a 56 mile bike ride and ending with a 13.1 mile run. In total I will be doing 70.3 in one day.

On the 3rd july 2017 my husband Jon and I lost our youngest son Tommy to sepsis at only 6 days old, in that moment our lives changed forever.

I have taken to cycling which has been helping hugely with my mental health, but I decided I wanted to challenge myself in a much bigger way and as the ironman is just before what would have been Tommy's 5th birthday it felt like the perfect way to honour him.

This is going to be an extremely hard and huge challenge for me, but for Tommy it is worth it.

Any money raised will be used to help get me there (sign up fee) and everything else will be sent to charities, some towards mental health support, some to sepsis charities and some to food banks to support others going through struggles.

I suffer with severe PTSD, Anxiety and depression which has been extremely hard to cope with. 

So please dig deep and help support and guide me to the finish line.

I have completed my first ever sprint triathlon on the 5th September, first half marathon on the 19th September, second on the 14th November last year which were both incredible. This year i have completed Birmingham running Festival half marathon on the 20th feb and Leicestershire half marathon on the 27th feb. I am also registered to do many other events and will post updates on here as much as I can.

The date for the ironman has just been released and it will be the 12th June 2022.

A lot of the events i am competing in also raise money for various charities (mainly from the entry fee etc) which make them that bit more amazing to be involved with.
