On February 26th we took Bruno to the vet for what we thought was a minor stomach issue. He was yelping, panting, eating grass, shaking uncontrollably and could not stay still. He was trying to lay down and get comfortable but kept switching sides and crying. We have had Bruno his whole life and know him like the back of our hands. He has a high pain tolerance so the fact that he was showing and telling us he was in pain frightened us. We rushed him to the closest vet that was open. When we arrived the Vet checked him out and said she believed he might have chewed something and it was bothering his stomach. Bruno is known for chewing and destroying his toys and other things, We decided to go ahead and get xrays, tests and blood work done to make sure he had no internal bleeding or serious damage. 4 hours and $500 later the vet was unable to still pin point exactly what the issue was. She said he might have something stuck in his small intestines. She sent us home with some pain medicine for him and told us to bring him in the morning to run some more tests. Unfortunately, Bruno could not make it that long. The pain just continued to get worse. He started to not be able to straighten his back or stand. We rushed him to an Animal Hospital in Grapevine. When we arrived i gave them the xray disk and all of the paper work from the vet we were at hours prior. The vet at the hospital told us they were treating and looking at the complete wrong thing. He checked Bruno out and told us he had become paralyzed. He believes Bruno has Hansen type 2 disk disease. With this devastating news in hand we plan to move forward and do all that we can do to help him. Bruno along with our other rescue Marley are our babies. We will do anything and everything we can to make sure Bruno gets to continue to live a long healthy  life. In this day alone we have spent $1,100 trying to just figure out what was going on. Now that we have a more accurate idea we will need to run multiple tests, MRIs and CT scans. That alone will cost minimum $2,000. Then we will need to proceed with surgery which minimum will cost $3,500. Once surgery is done Bruno will also need to have Physical Therapy. I will continue to update this with new information when it is given to us, along with accurate costs and feedback on tests. I want to thank everyone for their consistent prayers and kind words.
